Stress-induced FCC/FCT phase transformation in Fe–Pd alloy

چکیده
We report stress-induced martensitic transformation in tensile loaded Fe–30.5 at.% Pd polycrystals, mainly using optical microscopy. Reverse transformation occurs during unloading. Thermodynamic relationships between applied stress, transformation strain and the latent heat of transformation are examined. 2002 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. Martensitic transformation in Pd-rich Fe–Pd–Pt alloy
The fct martensite morphology and the martensite transformation temperatures are examined for Pd-rich Fe–Pd–Pt alloys, which have the composition of Fe–(xPdyPt)xþy1⁄430 at:%. The replacement of Pd with Pt content causes solution hardening. The shape memory effects are investigated below the Af temperatures. Above the Af temperatures, the stress induced martensite in several grains completely di...
متن کاملModel Calculation of Stress-Strain Relationship of Polycrystalline Fe- Pd and 3D Phase Transformation Diagram of Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloys
A micromechanics approach is proposed to calculate the stress-strain relationship of a polycrystalline Fe-Pd ferromagnetic shape memory alloy. It is modeled as consisting of spherical grains, which are grouped according to their orientations with respect to the loading axis. Therefore, the internal stress and elastic energy are accumulated as straining proceeds due to the strain differences bet...
متن کاملFabrication and magnetic properties of Fe–Pd nanowire arrays
Ordered 20 nm Fe–Pd nanowire arrays with different compositions have been fabricated by alternating current electrodeposition into nanoporous anodic alumina. The structural and magnetic properties of the arrays were investigated by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). When Fe content is lower than 46 at.%, Fe–Pd alloy phase wit...
متن کاملMagnetic field-induced reversible variant rearrangement in Fe–Pd single crystals
Variant rearrangements induced by external magnetic field in Fe–Pd FCT martensite transformed from FCC austenite single crystals have been investigated by means of optical microscopy. Fe–Pd single crystals in fully martensite state contain two large correspondence variants, and a kink due to {1 0 1} twinning is observed at the twinning boundary of the variants. The twinning boundary exhibits bo...
متن کاملStress Induced Phase Transition of Iron-Rhodium Alloys
Stress-induced phase transitions(B2-Llo, B2-fcc) on an FeRh alloy were investigated with X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). An Fe-SO.Sat%Rh alloy was rolled to 80pm thickness, and annealed at 1370K for 173ks. Annealed sample sheets were cold rolled at various rolling rates, and changes of the sample alloy on the phase state were investigated with XRD. The L lo ph...
